From May 2016 with the opening of the new South East Regional Hospital, Pambula Hospital has changed its role. Once a fully functioning local hospital with Emergency, Theatre and Obstetrics it now has a smaller complementary role. The hospital has 14 inpatient beds with large rooms, each having space for a table and chairs. The patients are usually local people undertaking rehabilitation or palliative care. The doctors working at Pambula Hospital are local General Practitioners or Physicians from the area acting as Visiting Medical Officers. There are often medical students and nursing students at the hospital.
There is a nurse led assessment and treatment service in what was the emergency department. This caters to minor illnesses and injuries. More serious emergencies and all ambulance cases are taken to South East Regional Hospital.

SERH is a general hospital with an active Emergency Department, Obstetric Ward, Operating Theatres, High Dependency / Intensive Care Unit, Surgical, Medical, Paediatric and Mental Health Wards. It is a teaching hospital for ANU Medical students and Wollongong Nursing students. With state of the art facilities and wonderfully spacious rooms it is a fantastic facility for the region.
The doctors working at SERH include Career Medical Officers in the Emergency Department, Registrars and Resident Medical Officers on the wards, General Practitioners, General Surgeons, Orthopaedic Surgeons, an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, General Physicians and Anaesthetists. Visiting specialists and locums complement the staff.
Community Health Centres
The Community Health Centres at Eden, Pambula & Bega provide many aspects of health care including dieticians, diabetic care, wound care, immunisations, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, community nursing, palliative care, cardiac rehab, pulmonary rehab, genetics and a child development unit.

Aged Care Facilities
Pambula has an excellent nursing home – Imlay House. In Merimbula, Albert Moore Gardens and in Tura Beach, Hugh Cunninghame Gardens are aged care facilities managed by RSL life Care.
